Great Teams Beat Great Players: Collaboration Drives Customer Success

In this piece, Chris Smith shares how collaboration across Actemium teams helped solve a controls integration challenge quickly and effectively.

Think about any great sports team. Even with a superstar, championships are never won alone. Success comes from the strength of the entire team working together.

The same applies to industrial automation. No single engineer or integrator can be an expert in every technology or scenario. That is why collaboration across specialized teams is so valuable, and why the Actemium model continues to work.

On a recent project, another Actemium business unit reached out for help with BACnet to Honeywell controller communication. After a quick discussion, we aligned on a solution using a Real Time Automation gateway. The concept was straightforward, but execution required coordination and experience.

We worked together remotely using Microsoft Teams to configure the system. Tools like YABE helped us map the BACnet network and build everything from scratch, even without existing documentation. We also improved the system by adding communication alarms to increase visibility and reduce future risk.

During implementation, we hit a setback when the configuration was not saved. However, because of our shared knowledge and preparation, we were able to quickly rebuild and get the system running within 30 minutes.

This project is a good reminder of the value a strong integration partner brings. Customers may have capable internal teams, but time, risk, and specialization always matter.

Actemium is built to complement those teams. When one group needs support, there is always someone in the network who can step in. That collaboration is what drives successful outcomes.

Great players matter. Great teams make the difference.
